Gary Fujihara

Gary Fujihara

Born in Honolulu, and a resident of Hilo since 1980, with a background in graphic arts, music and computer software engineering, Gary Fujihara heads the Office of Science Education and Public Outreach at the University of Hawaii Institute for Astronomy. He founded AstroDay, a nationally recognized and award-winning event in 2002 that regularly attracts over 15,000 people to this day-long event. Gary has been a NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Solar System Ambassador since 2004, and is a member of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP), Astronomical League and the International Dark Sky Association (IDA).
