Gregory Wirth

Gregory Wirth

Gregory Wirth was raised in Michigan and became interested in astronomy despite living in one of the cloudier places on our planet. He studied physics, astronomy, and applied math at Northwestern University and earned a doctorate in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. For the last seven years, he has served as an astronomer at the W. M. Keck Observatory, which operates the world's two largest optical telescopes on the summit of Mauna Kea. He currently lives in Waimea with his wife, three young children, three chickens, and a cat. Greg credits the members of his local astronomy club with nurturing his lifelong interest in astronomy and is happy to repay those mentors by sharing the wonders of the Universe with students and enthusiasts everywhere.
